Q. What amount of direct contact do I get with Dr. Kalish? Is this all just an on-line course?
Every class has weekly live Q and A sessions. The upper level courses are small groups, so you get more attention as you progress in your training and there is open dialogue every week in the advanced classes. Every week, everyone gets every question they have answered and every lab they have completed reviewed by Dr. Kalish and his teaching staff.
Q. What if I have a patient coming in on Tuesday morning and my class isn’t until Thursday?
Dr. Kalish and his teaching staff respond to all urgent situations like this so you can keep your practice flow going as you introduce this work into your clinic.
Q. What is the Kalish Method of functional medicine? How is it different from other models?
The Kalish Method is a simple clinical model of functional medicine you can implement easily. It focuses on The Three Body Systems, Adrenals, GI and Detox and only uses three types of lab tests and a very specific series of supplements to fix the five most common health problems: weight gain, fatigue, depression, digestive problems and female hormone imbalances.
Q. There are a lot of functional medicine classes and training courses in nutrition courses out there. Why is your program so popular?
My good looks and charm make this class super special! Seriously though, I put the FUN in FUNctional medicine. You know when you get a speeding ticket and have to go to traffic school, do you pick the one with a stand-up comic? Yes, for sure. We all want to be entertained. The Kalish Method is fun and it’s easy to learn. If you are going to communicate effectively with patients you have to keep it simple and to the point and avoid all the jargon and tech talk. We focus a lot on patient communications scripts and how to educate your patients about why this work is so important and what it can do for them. If you make it simple they will come.
Q. Is this training for everyone? What degree or background do I need to have?
This training is for people who are motivated to do this work and want to incorporate functional medicine into their practices. We have all sorts of professionals in class together which creates a wonderful synergy: chiropractors, medical doctors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, pharmacists, personal trainers, nutritionists. I’ve had many practitioners with 20 plus years of experience alongside folks still in school. We all learn from each other. Most MD’s don’t know much about designing exercise programs and most personal trainers don’t have a strong background in pharmacology and having students with broad backgrounds makes the educational experience richer for everyone involved.
Q. Where do I get started?
Whether you are new to functional medicine or have a lot of experience already it's a good idea to set up a coaching call with Dr. Kalish to figure out what training track is best for you.
Q. How do you address the issue of making money?
I provide scripts that you can use with new patients to get them excited enough that they will walk out with a lab kit, ready to go. We also have protocols for designing programs and educating patients about the important of taking supplements along with the lifestyle changes to make things work. If you can’t be highly profitable you are not going to last long and help many people so figuring out how to make money at this has to come early on, and my motto is, “If I can do this, you can do this.” I make a ridiculous amount of money every month year after year using this exact model. This is not some “fake out” made up thing - the Kalish Method is what I do every day in practice, it’s what Dr. Mercola’s clinic does every day along with the hundreds of other people I’ve already trained. You have many lines of supplements to choose from depending on who you order from already or what your favorite companies are - I can help you figure that part out.
Q. What about international students?
So far we have trained people in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. One couple took the course while they were traveling across Africa. As long as you are near an internet connection and a Fed Ex office you can do this work.
Q. When does the next program start and how can I register?
The Kalish Method 6 Month Mentorship begins March 6, 2012. We suggest you register as early as possible by clicking here. Everything we teach sells out and you should reserve your spot early. We sell out because we limit the numbers of students to what we can effectively handle - this is a low volume training program. Dr. Kalish is only interested in training people with a passion for this work who will be excellent representatives of this clinical model. We can afford to be picky because we want the best, most motivated folks.
Q. Does Dr. Kalish sell his line of supplements to other practitioners?
No, his supplement line is exclusively for his patients. However as part of the trainings he will help you find the best supplement companies depending on where your practice is and what companies you already use and have a good relationship with.
Q. What kind of testing is involved?
We just do tests based on saliva, urine and stool samples, there are no blood tests involved in any of the Kalish Method system.
Q. Can you do this work if you already use muscle testing in your practice?
Yes, absolutely, Dr. Kalish used AK long before he adapted functional medicine test methods and he can help you combine these two into a very effective model.
Q. Is Dr. Kalish still practicing?
Yes, Dr. Kalish sees patients three days a week and uses the exact same protocols covered in the training programs with his patient practice.
